Start Building Your Audience Before You Launch: How to Position Your Brand for Long-Term Success
Ben Donovan guested on Amazon Podcast, and he discussed constructing a package insert that gets results. He is the founder of Brand Builder University and has a passion for helping normal everyday people create financial freedom by building their own businesses. He operates brands selling in 9 different Amazon marketplaces and generating upwards of $ 2 million dollars per year and loves to share what is working from the trenches of eCommerce.
For Amazon sellers, the pressure to launch new products is constant. However, relying solely on the platform for sales can be risky and remember: Amazon only works if you have customer demand. That’s why it’s essential to start building an audience even before you launch your products.
Building an engaged customer base begins with understanding who your customers are and what they’re looking for. This can be done through research aimed at markets and customer behaviors, as well as by utilizing existing data resources such as keyword research tools or competitor analyses. Once you understand who your customers are, it becomes easier to identify the channels they use to find products such as search engine optimization (SEO) and social platforms like Instagram or YouTube.
In addition to understanding where your customers come from, investing in relationships with customers is key to creating returning traffic sources that help drive sales now, and in the future. This means providing excellent customer service when people purchase from you, subscribing them to communications about promotions or offers, offering valuable content around the product or niche, and creating loyalty programs for repeat customers.
Overall, focusing on building an audience even before launching products allows Amazon sellers to increase flexibility when launching new items—and positions them for long-term success beyond Amazon itself. By understanding and investing in relationships with customers, brands are able to create more lasting engagement that keeps them coming back again and again.
